The official currency of Curacao is the Netherlands Antillean Guilder or Florin (ANG or NAFl), which is divided into 100 cents. US currency is accepted everywhere and the guilder is tied to the US dollar at $1.77. Many small cash businesses will use $1.75 for ease of conversion. Most major credit cards are widely accepted. Large notes in US dollars ($50 $100) may be hard to cash or be accepted and all change is provided in Nafl.
Cash may be obtained with MasterCard, Visa and American Express cards at banks, in some casinos and via Western Union. Debit cards and credit cards are accepted by ATMs found throughout the island and cash is dispensed in Guilders or US Dollars. The card must have either a Cirrus or Visa Plus logo. ATM instructions are normally given in Dutch, English, Spanish and Papiamento.
